  • Coaching teachers and collaborative teams to improve literacy instruction.

  • Building leadership capacity in the area of literacy.

  • Nurturing a culture of lifelong readers.

Our Vision Statement:

Literacy instruction is foundational to learning and achievement at Stevenson High School. Our vision is to support all faculty and staff within all academic disciplines to implement strategic instructional practices driven by literacy research, Common Core State Standards, and assessment data. All students at Stevenson High School will engage literacy skills that empower them to read, write, speak, listen, observe and think critically in a global society.

Our Model:

We combine large group meetings and one on one coaching to support our Literacy Committee teachers in the classroom.

Years 1 and 2 consist of 4 large group meetings centered around a book study combined with individual coaching.

Year 3+ offers our Literacy Committee teachers with several choices - from leadership to continued professional development - in order to continue their literacy growth.
